Specific Job Responsibilities:
* Answer calls and address the customer''s technical support needs.
* Provide high-level technical support on operational issues or maintenance of PC''s and /or peripherals.
* Use troubleshooting techniques and tools to accurately identify problems.
* Apply most effective solution for identified problems.
* Research and consult with peers when unable to quickly identify cause of problem.
* Advise and educate customers in a way they can understand.
* Assist in formulation of problem solving techniques for newly discovered issues.
* Remain knowledgeable of Dell''s product line and service offerings, current industry products and technologies.
* Keep up-to-date on emerging computer issues.
* Act independently to field support calls that are technically and interpersonally complex in nature.
Technical Support Representatives should:
* Enjoy problem solving challenges in the ever-changing realm of technical support.
* Have a desire to solve computer problems from start to finish.
* Be eager to learn new problem solving techniques.
* Have the patience to work through technical issues with non-technical customers.
* Work from home techs should have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
* Deep understanding of Windows and Windows applications.
* Hardware troubleshooting skills.
* Peripherals, including the following: Multimedia, Scanners, Printers/Laser Printers, etc.
* Analytical ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
* Organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to handle stressful situations.
* Ability to deal professionally with irate customers.
* Excellent telephone soft skills.
* Previous customer service and/or technical support experience an asset.
* Must be flexible to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 6am and 12am, 7 days per week (with possibilty of expanding to 24 hour availability)
